zu + infinitive (Infinitiv mit zu)
Certain verbs and expressions are followed by a second action using 'zu + infinitive': Ich versuche, mehr zu schlafen (I am trying to sleep more). The structure is simple: comma, the rest of the clause, and zu + infinitive at the very end.
In this lesson
1. Structure
..., ... zu + infinitive (at the end).
Ich versuche, mehr Sport zu machen.
I am trying to do more sports.

3. After which expressions?

4. Separable verbs
zu goes right between the prefix and the verb: anzurufen, aufzustehen.

💡 Tip: If the sentence links a second action to the same subject (like saying 'to do' something), you usually use zu + infinitive.
