CAPÍTULO 20

A Lunch in London

On 12th May at 12:30, Amina arrives at the station. Heavy roadworks delay her bus by ten minutes.

Amina meets Selin near Platform 4. It is raining, so they hurry to the restaurant.

The waiter gives them the menu. Amina reads the prices and asks about the service charge.

Selin says that a ten percent tip is polite. She explains that British humour often involves irony.

They order the roast beef. The waiter says the kitchen has a small delay due to a busy schedule.

Amina checks her watch and notes the time is 13:15. She worries about her doctor appointment at 15:00.

Selin makes a joke about the slow service. She says the British like to complain politely.

The meal costs 25 pounds total. Amina adds the tip to the bill and pays with her card.

They leave the restaurant at 14:00. The weather improves as the sun comes out.

Amina walks to the clinic. She feels happy because she learned about the local culture.
