Dmytro Registers with a GP

Dmytro woke up feeling poorly. He decided he must register with a GP in England today. He looked up 'NHS GP registration' on his laptop.

The website explained that he needed to live in the catchment area. Dmytro found a local surgery, 'The Park Medical Centre', which was only a 15-minute walk away.

He read that he should bring proof of address and ID. The surgery was open until 6 PM. Dmytro found a letter from his landlord with his address on it.

He also had his passport. Dmytro felt a little nervous about the process. He hoped the GP could help him feel better soon.

He called the surgery at 10:30 AM. A friendly receptionist answered the phone. She said they had new patient appointments available next week.

Dmytro asked if he could have an earlier appointment. The receptionist checked the system and found one for Tuesday at 2:15 PM. This was much better!

He confirmed his details over the phone. The receptionist told him that the initial consultation was free. He also learned about the NHS 111 service for urgent but non-emergency advice.

Dmytro was happy to have an appointment. He thanked the receptionist. He felt relieved that he was taking steps to get well.

Before his appointment, he checked the bus timetable for route 42 to the surgery. The last bus departed at 5:40 PM, which was useful information.

He also noted that the prescription charge in England is currently £9.65. He looked forward to seeing the doctor and getting advice.
